Eat Before Working Out…

I’m sure that at some point, everyone has read an article that results in boosting their self-image, or at least providing some degree of credibility to something they are or are not doing.

This recently happened to me when a read an article that states that you should always eat before working out. As I continued to read, I felt really good about myself when I finished. This has never been a problem for me…I always eat before working out. Just think how great it will be when I actually start working out…Nerd smile!

What the heck is a “dooryard”?

As I near completion of my 68th year on earth, I was beginning to get that feeling that I’d done everything and there wasn’t anything I didn’t know….yeah, right Flirt male.

Then along comes my wife with a term that I have never heard of. My first thought was, “here she goes again…trying to impress me with her vast knowledge from the rural Northeast”. I can’t remember how it come up….we were in the car talking about something that had to do with driveways and parking….then she dropped the bomb….park in the “dooryard”. What the heck is a dooryard? She said it was the yard around a house. At this point, I was laughing so hard as I knew that there was no such term as “dooryard”….I mean really…give me a break Smile with tongue out.

Of course when we got home, I had to look up the term. I typed it into the search box on my computer, knowing that it would return, “no results found”. Was I ever wrong…according to Merriam-Webster, the definition of dooryard is, “a yard next to the door of a house”. After recovery from my state of shock, I had to go to her and apologize. I think she forgave me, but to make sure I understood, I’m now in the dog house in the “dooryard” Sad smile.

Just goes to show you that you can teach old dogs new tricks!

Are we so ugly that we really need this?

As a child, I remember riding in the family car and seeing a construction site where a new gas station was being built. My father would say,  “Pretty soon, we’ll have one on every corner.”  He wasn’t far from wrong. In the community where I hang my hat, I’ve noticed something similar happening, but not with gas stations, but with beauty supply stores!

I have done some estimating based on our community population and land area. My estimate is that we have a beauty supply store for every 2,198 residents. This doesn’t account for those operating supply points from the truck of their car in several of the area shopping centers nor does it account for the beauty supply sections of the large department and discount stores.

My question is…do we really need this much beauty?

Google: Bing Is Cheating, Copying Our Search Results

Wow…..a sting operation. You’ve got to be kidding me! Google apparently can’t believe that their search results have been and continue to head south. Sounds to me like they are feeling the heat and are looking for excuses.

Microsoft’s 11th Hour Fix for Vail Beta Users

Microsoft, specifically the Windows Home Server Team, has done an extremely poor job of communicating the information contained at the link below. So, in an effort to get this to as many folks as possible, if you are using the beta version of Vail, you will find this information helpful. I’m sticking with v1 of WHS until they can get this mess figured out! Maybe by then, they’ll figure out how to communicate to their customers.

The winner of the most seriously misguided tech article of the day goes the New York Times…

In addition to a few other topics, I think you’ll find yourself rolling on the floor in uncontrollable laughter as you read Paul’s debunking of the NYT article, 10 Ways to Get the Most Out of Technology today. It’s sad the author doesn’t have a clue about what he’s writing about!
